The key observation is that we do not need all lengths, only the shortest distance D and the next layer D+1. This allows us to use shortest-path structure twice: once from S and once from T. In an unweighted graph, BFS gives shortest distances, and more importantly, edges can only connect nodes whose distances differ by at most one.
This structure lets us compress the problem into counting contributions from individual edges instead of enumerating full walks. Any valid walk of length D+1 can be decomposed into a prefix from S to some edge endpoint, one traversed edge, and a suffix from the other endpoint to T. The prefix and suffix must be shortest-path-consistent in the sense that they do not exceed optimal distances, otherwise the total length would exceed D+1.
We therefore precompute shortest distances from both S and T, and also the number of shortest paths from S to every node and from every node to T. Then each edge is examined as a potential location where the walk deviates from a shortest path structure.

Algorithm Walkthrough
We first compute shortest distances from S using BFS. This gives a distance label distS[v] for every node v, and in particular we obtain D = distS[T].
Next we compute shortest distances from T using another BFS on the same graph, producing distT[v].
After that, we compute the number of shortest paths from S to every node. This is done by processing nodes in increasing order of distS, and relaxing edges only from smaller to larger or equal layers in BFS order. The same idea is applied in reverse from T, producing number of shortest suffix paths from each node to T.
With these values ready, we scan every edge (u, v). For each direction, we check whether that edge can act as the single “extra step” in a valid length D+1 walk.
If we consider traversing u → v at some point in the walk, then the prefix must end at u using exactly distS[u] shortest steps, and the suffix must go from v to T using exactly distT[v] steps. The total length becomes distS[u] + 1 + distT[v]. If this equals D+1, then every combination of a shortest prefix to u and a shortest suffix from v to T forms a valid walk contributing dpS[u] × dpT[v].
We also check the reverse direction v → u under the same condition and accumulate both contributions.
Finally, we take the answer modulo 1e9+7.
Why it works
Any walk of length D+1 must have exactly one more edge than a shortest S to T route. If we align the walk against shortest distance layers, all but one transition can be interpreted as moving along shortest-distance-consistent edges. The only place where the structure deviates is a single edge that causes a temporary “detour” in the distance alignment. Every valid walk corresponds uniquely to choosing that edge and splitting the walk into a shortest prefix and a shortest suffix around it. This one-to-one correspondence between walks and “(edge, prefix, suffix)” decompositions guarantees completeness and prevents double counting.
