Algorithm Walkthrough
We construct the solution starting from the most compact valid configuration and then gradually increase perimeter until it matches the target.
- Begin with a single rectangle of shape 1×n. This uses all squares in one component and gives the minimum possible perimeter 2(n + 1). This is the baseline configuration from which all others can be derived.
