Algorithm Walkthrough
We root the tree at an arbitrary node, say 1. For each node u, we compute DP information from its children.

- For open chains coming from children, we consider combining them through u. Since u can connect to at most two directions in a path, we may merge u with up to two chains: one going upward and possibly one additional child chain, forming a longer chain passing through u.
- We sort or select the best candidate chains from children by their contribution value, since only a small number of chains can be merged through a single node.
- We decide whether to:
close all chains at u, producing a local completed path with sum equal to the accumulated node weights, or
