Why it works

Edge Cases
A fully collinear input produces a convex hull of zero area. The algorithm still behaves correctly because the angular intervals collapse into a single direction, and the midpoint candidate simply creates a triangle with maximal spread on the circle.
When all points already lie close to the circle boundary, the hull is large but still expandable only in narrow angular gaps. The midpoint sampling ensures we test exactly those gaps where a new extreme can appear, so no improvement is missed.
When the hull has only one or two points, angle sorting still works, but the cyclic interval handling must explicitly wrap around $2\pi$. Without this, the algorithm would miss the most important candidate interval crossing the negative-positive angle boundary.
