This suggests processing pairs in increasing index order, and for each pair, walking along its path and assigning every still-unassigned edge on that path. Each edge is removed exactly once when it gets its first assignment. The challenge is efficiently finding and traversing the remaining active edges on a path in a dynamic tree where edges disappear over time.

Steps

- Iterate over pairs in increasing index order. For a pair (u, v), repeatedly search for any active edge on the path between u and v.
- To find an active edge, decompose the path into HLD segments. For each segment, query the segment tree for any position with value 1. If none exist across all segments, the path is fully processed and we stop.
- If an active node x is found, it represents the edge between x and parent[x]. Assign ans[edge(x, parent[x])] to the current pair index, then mark this position as 0 in the segment tree.
- Repeat the search for the same pair until no active edges remain on its path.
Why it works
The algorithm processes pair indices in strictly increasing order, so the first time an edge is discovered on any pair path, that pair index is minimal among all pairs that use the edge. After assignment, the edge is removed from the structure, so it can never be assigned a larger index later. Since every pair only interacts with currently active edges, each edge is assigned exactly once, and the assignment happens at the earliest possible pair index that touches it.
