Why it works:
The algorithm directly tests the definition of a valid starting point. For any landmark, the simulation follows exactly the same sequence of moves that the thief would make. If the simulation fails, the path contains an impossible step, so that landmark cannot be the start. If the simulation succeeds, every visited cell is land, which means the landmark satisfies all requirements. Since every possible landmark is tested, no valid answer is missed and no invalid answer is included.
