Each package has a flexibility range determined by a value l. A package that originates from company c can instead be assigned to any company x as long as x is not too far from c, specifically if the distance |c − x| is at most l. After choosing a valid destination, the package must be assigned to exactly one company.
We are free to distribute all packages among valid companies. The constraint we care about is how balanced the final distribution is: for each company, count how many packages it receives, and we want to make the maximum of these counts as small as possible. The task is to compute this minimum possible maximum load.
The input describes multiple independent scenarios. Each scenario gives the number of companies n, the number of packages m, then two arrays: one for the original owner of each package and one for its flexibility radius. The output for each scenario is a single integer representing the smallest possible value of the largest number of packages assigned to any company after an optimal reassignment.
The key hidden structure is that each package does not have an arbitrary set of destinations. Instead, each package i defines a contiguous interval of valid companies from c_i − l_i to c_i + l_i, clipped to the range [1, n]. So every package is an interval request that must be assigned to exactly one integer point inside its interval.
From a complexity perspective, both n and m can be large up to 2⋅10^5 per test total. Any solution that tries to simulate assignments or check feasibility independently per value of Z in a naive way will be too slow. A direct greedy simulation of assigning each package to some valid company would also fail because local choices can easily block later assignments in a way that increases congestion elsewhere.
A subtle edge case appears when all packages are highly flexible and overlap almost everywhere. In such cases, greedy “fill the currently least loaded valid company” strategies can produce incorrect distributions because early decisions can concentrate intervals in a way that artificially increases the peak load even though a more globally balanced assignment exists.
Another edge case occurs when intervals are very narrow, for example l_i = 0 for all i. Then each package is forced to its original company, and the answer is simply the maximum frequency of any c_i. Approaches
A direct brute force approach would try to assign each package one by one, exploring all valid choices. This is correct because it respects all constraints, but the branching factor is large. Each package can map to up to O(n) companies in the worst case, so the state space explodes exponentially, making it infeasible even for small inputs.
A slightly more structured brute force would fix a candidate value Z and check whether it is possible to assign packages so that no company receives more than Z. This becomes a flow-like feasibility problem: each package must be assigned to one of the positions in its interval, and each position has capacity Z. A straightforward max flow construction would work, but building a full flow graph with O(n + m) nodes and O(mn) edges is too large, and even optimized flow is too slow for repeated checking across all Z.
The key observation is that we do not actually need to simulate assignments explicitly. We only need to determine the smallest capacity Z such that every interval can be packed into integer points without exceeding capacity. This is a classic “interval allocation with capacity constraints” problem, and it can be checked greedily if we process positions in order and always assign intervals as late as possible while respecting availability. The structure allows us to think in terms of sweeping from left to right and maintaining which intervals are currently active.
Instead of trying a fixed Z repeatedly, we can transform the problem into computing the minimum Z directly by tracking how many intervals are forced to overlap at any point in an optimal arrangement. Each package contributes a range, and the answer becomes the maximum load induced by any position when all intervals are assigned optimally. The optimal strategy is equivalent to always placing each package as far right as possible within its range, which prevents unnecessary early congestion.

Algorithm Walkthrough
- Convert each package into an interval [L_i, R_i] where L_i = max(1, c_i − l_i) and R_i = min(n, c_i + l_i). This reformulates the problem as placing intervals onto integer points.
- Sort all intervals by their left endpoint. This ordering ensures we consider intervals in the order they become eligible to be placed, which is necessary for maintaining a consistent sweep.
- Sweep through positions from 1 to n, maintaining a data structure of all intervals whose left endpoint is ≤ current position but are not yet assigned.
- At each position x, insert all intervals starting at x into a priority structure keyed by their right endpoint. The right endpoint determines urgency: intervals that end earlier must be assigned sooner to avoid losing feasibility later.
- While the number of intervals currently assigned to position x is less than the target capacity Z, repeatedly take the interval with the smallest right endpoint from the active structure and assign it to x, as long as x ≤ its right bound. If no such interval exists, we move on.
- After processing all positions, check whether all intervals were assigned. If yes, Z is feasible; otherwise it is not.
- To find the minimum Z, use binary search over the answer range from 1 to m, testing feasibility using the above sweep.
The greedy choice of always assigning the interval with the earliest finishing time ensures we never “waste” early positions on intervals that could survive longer, preserving flexibility for tighter intervals later.
Why it works
At any position x, the only constraint that matters is how many intervals covering x can be assigned there. Among all intervals that could still be placed at x, choosing the one with the smallest right endpoint is safe because it has the least future flexibility. Any optimal solution that assigns a later-ending interval instead can be transformed into one that swaps it with an earlier-ending interval without worsening feasibility. This exchange argument preserves validity and ensures the greedy assignment does not block any solution that could achieve the same or smaller maximum load.
