A journey between two vertices follows the unique path between them, and its distance is the sum of edge costs on that path. Some puzzles require collecting information from a set of edges. A journey is successful when, for every puzzle that has at least one of its required edges on the journey, all required edges of that puzzle are also on the journey. The goal is to sum the distances of all successful journeys.

The input gives the tree, followed by many puzzles. The total number of edge references across all puzzles is limited, which is the key restriction. Although the number of nodes and puzzles can each reach one million, the total amount of puzzle data is also only one million, so any solution must process each edge reference only a small number of times. An approach that checks every pair of vertices would already need around 10^12 operations on the largest trees, which is impossible. Even a traversal starting from every vertex is too expensive because it would become quadratic.

The central difficulty is that a puzzle does not forbid a single edge. It forbids taking only part of a required set. For example, if a puzzle needs two edges and a path contains only one of them, that path fails. The hidden structure comes from grouping edges that are forced to appear together.

A common mistake is to handle every puzzle independently and remove edges that look dangerous. This fails because constraints can combine. Suppose one puzzle contains edges 1 and 2, and another contains edges 2 and 3. Then edges 1, 2, and 3 are all forced together, even though no single puzzle contains all three.

The puzzle needs the second and third edges. The successful journeys cannot use only one of them. The valid answer is the sum of paths using neither of those edges plus the paths using both. A solution that only removes the second edge would incorrectly allow the path from node 2 to node 3.

The required edges form a fork, not a simple path. No journey can contain all three edges because a tree path never branches. All journeys using any of those edges must be rejected.

Approaches

The brute force approach is to test every pair of vertices. For each pair, we find the path, collect the puzzles touched by the path, and check whether every touched puzzle has all its edges present. This is correct because it follows the definition directly. The problem is the amount of work. There are up to N^2 pairs, and even if a single check were constant time, this would be around 10^12 operations.

The useful observation is that puzzles only connect edges together. If two edges appear in the same puzzle, any valid path must either contain both or contain neither. This relation is transitive, so we can merge all mutually dependent edges into groups with a disjoint set union structure.

After merging, every group represents a set of edges that must always travel together. A group is usable only if its edges form one simple path in the tree. If the group branches, no valid journey can use any edge in it, so those edges are removed. Every remaining group can be compressed into a single weighted edge whose weight is the sum of the original weights.

Now the original problem becomes much simpler. We have a forest of valid edges. Any path inside this forest corresponds exactly to a successful journey in the original tree. The answer is the sum of distances over all pairs of vertices connected by valid edges. We can compute this by a tree DP style accumulation: when processing an edge, if one side of the edge contains s vertices and the other contains n-s vertices, that edge contributes its weight multiplied by the number of pairs crossing it.

The brute-force method works because it explicitly verifies every path. It fails because there are too many paths. The grouping observation reduces the problem to finding which edges can participate in any valid path, and then a standard weighted tree contribution calculation finishes the job.

Algorithm Walkthrough

  1. Create a disjoint set union structure over the tree edges. For every puzzle, merge all edges belonging to that puzzle into one component. The reason is that all these edges are inseparable in every valid journey.
  2. For every edge component, determine its shape inside the original tree. Count the number of vertices touched by the component and the degree of each touched vertex inside the component. A connected edge set is a path exactly when it has two endpoints of degree one, or it is a single edge. Any component with a vertex of degree greater than two is unusable.
  3. Remove unusable components and compress every usable component into one edge. The new edge connects the two endpoints of the old path and has weight equal to the sum of weights inside that path.
  4. Run a traversal over the remaining forest. For every compressed edge, compute the size of one side of the cut. If the edge has weight w and separates s vertices from N-s vertices, add w * s * (N-s) to the answer.
  5. Output the accumulated value modulo 10^9 + 7.

Why it works: Every valid journey must include whole puzzle-components because a partial component would leave some puzzle incomplete. After merging, a successful path is exactly a path in the compressed forest. Invalid components cannot appear in any path because they branch. For every remaining edge, all pairs separated by that edge use it exactly once, so its contribution is exactly the edge weight multiplied by the number of crossing pairs.

The DSU works on edges rather than vertices because the dependency is between puzzle pieces. Every puzzle merges its referenced edges, creating the maximal groups that must stay together.

The component validation step checks whether a group can appear as a tree path. A path has no internal branching, so any degree above two immediately makes the group impossible. The endpoints are the only vertices where the compressed edge can attach to the rest of the tree.

The final traversal computes subtree sizes in the forest of usable edges. For each edge, the number of pairs that use it is the product of the sizes on its two sides. The multiplication is done modulo the required value, and Python integers avoid overflow issues.

Edge Cases

For a single required edge, the algorithm creates a component containing only that edge. It is a valid path, but every journey using it also has to include the entire component, which is already true. The contribution is counted normally through the edge crossing formula.

For overlapping puzzles, the DSU merge step is what prevents mistakes. If one puzzle links edges A and B and another links B and C, the component contains A, B, and C. A path using only A and B would be rejected because it would not contain the whole merged dependency.

For a branching component, the degree check detects the impossible shape. Since a tree path cannot visit three branches from the same vertex, every edge in that component is removed before counting.

For isolated valid components, the final traversal treats each remaining connected part independently. Nodes in different components have no usable path between them, so they never contribute to the sum.
