Since all edge weights are non-negative, we can run Dijkstra’s algorithm on this expanded graph. The simplicity constraint is naturally respected because Dijkstra never revisits a state with a strictly better cost, and the state space already captures all necessary information about feasibility of continuing a path.
The transition structure is particularly well-behaved: each original edge induces k transitions, one for each remainder. This keeps the total number of states small enough, around O(nk), and edges around O(mk), which is manageable.
