Approaches
A brute-force perspective starts by thinking of dynamic programming over subsequences. For each position $i$, we could try to compute the best valid subsequence ending at $i$. To extend a subsequence ending at $j$ into $i$, we need both $A[j] < A[i]$ and also that the last difference used to reach $j$ is smaller than $A[i] - A[j]$.
This immediately leads to a state that is not one-dimensional. A state is not just “best length ending at j”, but rather “best length ending at j with a given last difference”. That turns each position into a collection of possible states, and transitions between all pairs of positions and all compatible difference states.
A naive implementation that iterates over all triples $(i, j, d)$ degenerates into roughly cubic behavior in the worst case, which is far beyond limits.
The key observation is that the sequence is governed by a monotonic geometric structure. Each state can be described by two parameters: the last chosen value and the last difference. Any future extension depends only on these two values, not the full history. This suggests a dynamic programming formulation where we maintain, for each endpoint, a set of non-dominated states.

- After processing all pairs, scan all states across all indices and pick the one with maximum length. This gives the endpoint of the best sequence.
- Reconstruct the answer by following parent pointers backward from the best state until reaching a state with no predecessor.
