The constraint that the total array length over all test cases is up to 4·10^5 forces an overall linear or near-linear solution per test case. Any solution that simulates the greedy process independently per subarray would be far too slow, since there are O(n^2) subarrays and each greedy walk can be O(n), leading to cubic behavior in the worst case.

Once we know, for each index i, the smallest j > i such that a[j] > a[i], the process becomes a deterministic jump chain. This reduces the problem to understanding how many steps a chain contributes when started from different subarray boundaries.
Instead of recomputing jumps per subarray, we reverse perspective. Fix a starting index i and consider all subarrays that start at i. The greedy process always begins at i, and its first jump depends only on next greater structure, not on the subarray’s right boundary until that boundary cuts off the jump. This suggests preprocessing next greater elements and then aggregating contributions using a structure that counts, for each i, how far its chain survives inside each possible right endpoint.
This leads to a standard monotonic-stack preprocessing to compute next greater indices, followed by a contribution-counting strategy where we treat each valid jump as contributing to all subarrays whose right endpoint reaches at least that jump position. This transforms the problem from per-subarray simulation into counting intervals induced by jump edges.

Algorithm Walkthrough
We first compute, for every index, the next position to its right that contains a strictly larger value. This is done using a monotonic decreasing stack, so that each element is pushed and popped at most once. This step constructs a functional graph where each node points to its next jump destination, or has no outgoing edge.
Next, we reinterpret the greedy process as walking along this graph. Starting from an index i, the sequence is i → nxt[i] → nxt[nxt[i]] and so on, until we fall off the array. The length of this chain is what we need to account for, but only within the boundary of a chosen subarray.
To count contributions over all subarrays, we fix a starting index i and consider how far each jump survives as we extend the right endpoint. The first jump from i is valid only if the subarray ends at or beyond nxt[i]. The second jump is valid only if the subarray ends at or beyond nxt[nxt[i]], and so on. This means each i contributes a sequence of thresholds, each threshold adding +1 to all subarrays whose right endpoint lies beyond it.
We accumulate these contributions efficiently by iterating over i, following its next pointers, and for each jump endpoint recording that all subarrays ending at or beyond that point gain one extra step. A difference array over right endpoints allows us to aggregate these contributions in linear time.
Finally, we prefix-sum the contribution array over right endpoints, and for each i we accumulate its total contribution over all valid subarrays starting at i.
Why it works
The greedy process depends only on the next strictly greater element, so every sequence is uniquely determined by the next-greater pointer chain. Each step in the chain contributes exactly one unit to the answer for a subarray if and only if the subarray contains the corresponding jump. By converting “contains this jump” into an interval condition on the right endpoint, we transform a path counting problem into interval counting. Because each jump endpoint is processed once and contributes to a contiguous suffix of endpoints, the total contribution is captured exactly by a difference array without overlap errors or omissions.
