This works in small cases because gcd is monotonic in the sense that adding elements can only decrease or keep it stable. However, the failure point is that the optimal segment starting at a position is not determined only by the prefix; it depends on where a shared prime factor stops being present.
The key observation is that gcd greater than one is equivalent to existence of at least one prime that divides every element in the segment. So every valid segment is entirely contained inside a contiguous block of indices where some fixed prime divides all elements. This converts the problem into interval coverage: we want to cover $[l, r]$ using the largest possible “prime-consistent” intervals.
For each index $i$, we can compute the furthest position to the right that we can extend if we start a segment at $i$. Once we know this reach, a greedy scan becomes deterministic: always take the segment that extends farthest from the current position.
The remaining challenge is making this greedy process fast enough for up to $10^6$ queries.

Algorithm Walkthrough
We convert the array into prime-divisibility structure and then compress it into maximal segments where a fixed prime is valid.
1. Factor each number
For every position $i$, factor $a_i$ into its distinct prime divisors. Each prime is a candidate that might support valid segments.
2. Build prime occurrence lists
For each prime $p$, store all indices where $a_i$ is divisible by $p$. Each such list represents positions where this prime is “active”.
3. Compress into contiguous runs per prime
For each prime list, split it into maximal contiguous blocks. Within one block, every position is divisible by the same prime, so any subsegment inside it has gcd at least $p$, hence valid.
For each index $i$, we record best[i], the farthest right endpoint among all prime blocks that contain $i$.
The reason this works is that any valid segment starting at $i$ must be fully contained in at least one such prime block, so the farthest possible extension is exactly the best block among all primes dividing $a_i$.
4. Greedy coverage of a query
To process a query $[l, r]$, we maintain a pointer cur starting at $l$. We repeatedly choose a segment starting at cur that extends to best[cur], and then move cur to best[cur] + 1. We count how many such segments are needed until cur > r.
Why it works
At any position, all valid segments starting there are fully contained in prime-consistent blocks. The farthest such block always dominates any shorter choice, because choosing a shorter segment can only increase the number of required operations later without enabling any new reachability. This makes the greedy choice optimal at every step, and the segmentation deterministic.

The factorization step builds the prime structure. The best array stores, for each index, the furthest right boundary of any valid prime-consistent segment containing that index. The query loop then performs a greedy segmentation, always jumping as far as possible from the current position.
A subtle implementation point is that best[i] is global, so the greedy process may extend beyond the query boundary. This is safe because we clamp the process by stopping once cur > r, and any overshoot still corresponds to a valid segment covering the last needed position.

Consider an array where prime structure creates overlapping blocks.
