Algorithm Walkthrough

We process the tree using centroid decomposition, and at each centroid we count all increasing subsequences of paths that pass through it.

  1. Choose a centroid of the current tree component. The centroid guarantees that every remaining component is at most half the size, which ensures logarithmic decomposition depth.

  5. After computing these values for one subtree, we insert its results into a global structure associated with the centroid.
  6. Before merging a new subtree, we query against all previously processed subtrees. For each node in the current subtree, we try to combine it with previously stored nodes from other subtrees to form a valid path passing through the centroid.
