The key observation is that we never need to consider arbitrary positions as decision points except portal locations and the endpoints of segments between portals. Any optimal path that uses teleportation will always arrive at some portal, possibly after walking from a non-portal position.
A brute-force approach would, for each starting position, run a BFS or Dijkstra where we treat every integer position as a node. Each node would have edges to neighbors and to portal jumps. This immediately fails because the state space is size n, up to 10^9.
Even if we restrict nodes to only portals and starting/ending points, we still must account for walking distances between arbitrary points and portals. This suggests compressing the problem into intervals defined by sorted portals.
Once portals are sorted, each portal connects only to its immediate neighbors in sorted order. That means teleportation forms a simple line graph over the sorted portal list. The remaining cost is walking distance from any position to nearby portals or directly to g.
The key insight is that once we fix a point x, any optimal path to g has only a few structural forms. Algorithm Walkthrough
We sort all portal positions so that they form a linear chain.
We then compute the cost of reaching g starting from each portal, assuming we are already standing on that portal. This reduces to a shortest path problem on a line graph of size k, where each portal has edges to its adjacent portals with cost 1, and additionally each portal can directly walk to g with cost equal to absolute distance.
We perform a dynamic programming relaxation in two passes over the sorted portals.
First we initialize dp[i] as the cost of walking directly from portal i to g.
Then we sweep left to right, updating dp[i] from dp[i-1] plus the cost of teleporting between adjacent portals.
After that, we sweep right to left doing the symmetric relaxation. After these two passes, dp[i] represents the best possible cost from portal i to g, either by walking or by using any sequence of teleportations along the chain.

Why it works
The portal graph is a path graph, so any sequence of teleportations is equivalent to moving along this path. Because all teleport edges have equal cost and only connect adjacent nodes, shortest paths on this structure are fully captured by two directional relaxations. Any optimal route from a portal to g can be decomposed into a final segment that is pure walking from some portal, and earlier segments that only move along the portal chain. The DP guarantees we consider both directions of travel along the chain, so no beneficial detour is missed.
