Once the best sequence of weights is determined, we do not output the sequence directly. Instead, we interpret it as a base-$x$ number where the first edge contributes the highest power and the last edge contributes the lowest power, and we output the value modulo $10^9 + 7$. If no walk of exactly $k$ edges exists from $s$ to $t$, we output -1.
The constraints immediately rule out any attempt to simulate paths of length $k$ directly. The number of steps $k$ can go up to $10^9$, so any dynamic programming indexed by path length is impossible. However, the number of nodes is very small, at most 50, which suggests that we should think in terms of state compression over nodes and fast transformations over step lengths rather than explicit path enumeration.
A naive but tempting idea is to treat this as shortest lexicographic path in a layered graph of size $n \cdot k$, but building or traversing that graph is impossible due to the size of $k$.
A subtle failure case for greedy thinking appears in graphs where locally smallest edges do not lead to globally feasible completions. For example, if from $s$ the smallest edge leads to a node that cannot reach $t$ in $k-1$ steps, but a slightly larger edge does, a naive greedy choice would fail. This shows that feasibility of continuation matters as much as lexicographic order.

A brute-force perspective would attempt to enumerate all paths of length $k$, keeping track of their sequences and selecting the lexicographically smallest. Even restricting to feasible transitions, each step branches by up to $n$ outgoing edges, so the number of paths grows exponentially like $O(n^k)$. Even for $k = 50$, this is already infeasible, and for $k$ up to $10^9$, it is entirely impossible.
The key structural observation is that lexicographic minimization depends only on prefixes. If we knew, for any node $u$, the best possible suffix sequence of length $r$ that leads from $u$ to $t$, we could compare outgoing edges from a node by checking whether taking that edge allows completion with a lexicographically optimal suffix. This suggests a dynamic programming over paths, but direct DP over $k$ is impossible.
The second key idea is that transitions over fixed path lengths compose. For each length $L$, we can define a transition matrix $A_L$ where $A_L[u][v]$ tells us the lexicographically smallest sequence of edge weights that takes us from $u$ to $v$ in exactly $L$ steps, or marks it as impossible. These matrices can be combined: if we know best paths of length $a$ and $b$, we can combine them to get best paths of length $a+b$ by trying intermediate nodes and concatenating sequences.
Because $n \le 50$, we can afford an $O(n^3)$ combination step. Then we use binary lifting on path length $k$, similar to fast exponentiation. We precompute matrices for powers of two, and then combine them according to the binary representation of $k$.
The lexicographic comparison requires storing sequences, but full sequences are too large. Instead, we store only enough information to compare concatenations: at each state we maintain both reachability and a representation of the best lexicographic transition. Since path length is large but node count is small, we can store, for each pair $(u,v)$, the best single-edge choice for each power segment, and reconstruct greedily.
This turns the problem into a shortest lexicographic path over a semiring where multiplication is concatenation and addition is lexicographic minimum.

Algorithm Walkthrough

- Precompute powers of two: $T, T^2, T^4, \dots$ up to the largest bit in $k$, repeatedly applying the combination rule.
- Decompose $k$ into binary. Start with an identity structure that represents “empty path” behavior: zero length paths are only valid when start equals end.
- For each bit of $k$, if it is set, multiply the current result structure by the corresponding power-of-two transition structure using the same combination rule.
- After processing all bits, the entry $result[s][t]$ contains the lexicographically smallest sequence of edge weights for a path of length $k$, or indicates impossibility.
- Convert this sequence into a numeric value in base $x$ modulo $10^9+7$ by iterating through weights in order.
The correctness depends on the fact that lexicographic order is preserved under concatenation when comparisons are done prefix-first. Each DP structure fully captures the best possible prefixes for a fixed length, so combining them preserves global optimality.
Why it works
Each matrix represents the optimal lexicographic outcome for a fixed number of steps between every pair of nodes. When we combine two matrices, we are effectively choosing an intermediate split point of the path and comparing complete prefixes formed by concatenation. Because lexicographic order depends only on the first differing edge, and each substructure already guarantees optimal prefixes internally, no later recombination can produce a better prefix than one already considered. This makes the semigroup composition valid and ensures binary lifting produces the globally optimal path.
