Algorithm Walkthrough

- After processing all children, compute two final values for the node. One corresponds to not selecting the node, aggregating all safe combinations of child states. The other corresponds to selecting the node, in which case all child contributions must be compatible with a single hub structure centered at this node.

Why it works
The DP invariant is that for each node, we correctly count all valid configurations of its subtree under two conditions: either the node is unused and all selected nodes are contained in disjoint child-consistent configurations, or the node is used and becomes the unique hub through which any communication inside the subtree is structurally routed without violating the “no intermediate selected node on paths” rule.
This invariant guarantees correctness because every valid global configuration has a unique highest node where the structure “merges”, and the DP assigns exactly one counting path to it.
