A contest is an ordered sequence of chosen problems, and its structure is rigid: if a problem with difficulty d is followed by another problem, the next one must have difficulty exactly ⌊d / 2⌋. This creates a forced chain of difficulties. Once you pick a starting difficulty, the rest of the sequence is uniquely determined as repeated integer division by two until you can no longer continue because the required next difficulty is not available.

So the real task is: at every moment, among all possible starting difficulties present in the current multiset, pick a chain following repeated halving, and maximize the sum of beauties along that chain.

The input size goes up to 200,000 operations. That immediately rules out recomputing the best chain from scratch after each update. A naive recomputation would require scanning all problems and repeatedly simulating chains, which would be far too slow in the worst case, since each operation could cost linear time over all active elements.

The key difficulty is that updates are interleaved with queries, and each update can change multiple potential chains because a single problem participates in chains starting from many higher difficulties.

A subtle edge case arises from negative beauties. A chain is not forced to include all reachable nodes if skipping is allowed, but here the structure is strictly sequential once you choose a start. However, because we are maximizing sum, a negative tail can reduce total value, so the best chain might stop early even if longer continuation exists logically, by simply not choosing a starting node that leads into a bad suffix.

Another edge case is multiple identical difficulties with different beauties. Since problems are individual entities, removing one instance must not remove the aggregate effect incorrectly, so we need a structure that supports multiset-like behavior per difficulty.

Approaches

A brute-force approach recomputes the best contest after each update by iterating over all existing problems and treating each one as a possible starting point. From a starting problem, we repeatedly compute the next required difficulty and search for a matching problem, selecting the best available continuation each time. This is correct because every valid contest is determined entirely by its first element.

However, this is expensive. If there are n operations and up to n active problems, each recomputation may scan all problems and for each starting point walk a chain of length O(log maxD). This leads to roughly O(n^2) behavior in dense cases, which is far beyond limits.

The key observation is that the transition structure is fixed and deterministic: each difficulty only points to exactly one predecessor, 2*d, and one successor, d//2. This forms a forest of chains over difficulties. Instead of thinking in terms of individual problems, we aggregate by difficulty and maintain the best achievable chain ending at each difficulty.

We define a DP-like value dp[d] as the maximum beauty of a valid chain that ends at difficulty d. Any chain ending at d must come from a chain ending at 2*d, plus choosing a problem of difficulty d. Therefore, dp[d] depends only on dp[2*d] and the best available beauty at d. This reduces the problem to maintaining dynamic maxima over a structured graph where each node depends on one parent.

We maintain, for each difficulty, the best available beauty among currently active problems. Then we maintain DP values from high to low or lazily recompute along affected paths. Since each update only affects one difficulty, we only need to update along its halving chain upward or downward, each of length O(log maxD).

Algorithm Walkthrough

We maintain two main structures: a multiset-like frequency map for beauties per difficulty, and an array best[d] storing the maximum beauty currently available for difficulty d. We also maintain dp[d], the best chain ending at d, and a global answer.

  1. Initialize arrays best and dp for all possible difficulties up to 1e6. Initially everything is empty, so best[d] = -∞ and dp[d] = 0.
  2. For each operation, either insert or remove a problem (d, b). We update the stored best beauty for difficulty d by inserting or deleting from a multiset structure. After update, recompute best[d] as the maximum remaining beauty or -∞ if empty.
  3. From this updated node d, recompute dp values along the chain d, d//2, d//4, .... At each step, we set dp[x] = max(dp[2*x] + best[x], dp[x]) but since dependencies only flow from higher to lower, we recompute cleanly as dp[x] = best[x] + dp[2*x] if best[x] exists, otherwise 0.
  4. Continue propagating upward until reaching zero.
  5. After updates, recompute the global answer as the maximum dp[d] over all difficulties, but we maintain it incrementally by tracking affected nodes during propagation.

The reason propagation works locally is that only ancestors of d can be affected by a change at d, since only those chains include d in their suffix.

Why it works

Each valid contest corresponds to selecting a starting difficulty s and then deterministically following s, ⌊s/2⌋, ⌊s/4⌋, .... For any fixed s, the best possible value is fully determined by the best available beauty at each step. Thus the optimal value for a suffix ending at x depends only on 2x. This creates a strict dependency tree with no cycles, meaning updates propagate upward without ambiguity. Since every affected DP state lies on a single chain of length O(log A), recomputation remains bounded.

A subtle point is the use of best[x] = 0 for empty nodes. This assumes we can choose to stop a chain, which is correct because a contest may be empty or may terminate at any point without requiring continuation.

The DP transition uses the fact that a node only depends on its double, so recomputation does not require revisiting unrelated branches.
