A naive solution would explicitly build all edges and run a maximum weight bipartite matching or a min-cost max-flow.
However, building edges already costs O(nk), which is up to 10^9 operations, and even storing that graph is infeasible in memory.
The key observation is that all meteorites are interchangeable on the geometry side except for their weight, and each crater can accept at most one meteorite. This means we can reverse the viewpoint: instead of trying to match each meteorite to all craters, we can process craters and decide which meteorite should occupy them.
For each crater, we compute which meteorites can reach it. That still sounds expensive, but the geometric condition simplifies: for each crater, we only need to check whether a meteorite satisfies a single inequality involving distance to origin and mass-based reach. Computing distance is O(1), so iterating over all meteorites per crater is still too large.
To avoid this, we flip the process: for each meteorite, compute its reach radius and consider all craters within that radius. We then need to assign meteorites in decreasing order of mass so that large mass meteorites, which are more valuable, are placed first into available craters they can reach.
We pre-sort meteorites by mass descending. Then we need a spatial structure over craters that supports querying all craters within a given distance threshold. Since coordinates are bounded in [-2000, 2000], we can discretize or bucket craters by approximate distance from origin, and for each meteorite we only check relevant buckets.
This transforms the problem into a greedy assignment: process meteorites from heaviest to lightest, and for each meteorite, find any still-unused reachable crater.
This works because heavier meteorites contribute more to the objective, and assigning them first prevents blocking critical craters.

Algorithm Walkthrough
We first convert each crater into a value that represents how far it is from the origin, since reachability depends only on that distance and the meteorite’s capability.
- Compute the squared distance of each crater center from the origin. We use squared distance to avoid floating-point errors and square roots, since comparisons preserve ordering.
- For each meteorite, compute its squared reach value from the formula, which determines the maximum squared distance it can cover. This avoids square roots entirely.
- Sort meteorites in decreasing order of mass. This ensures we always try to place the most valuable items first, preventing them from being blocked by smaller assignments.
- Sort craters by their squared distance from the origin. We maintain a pointer over craters and progressively activate those that become reachable for the current meteorite.
- Maintain a data structure of available craters, typically a set or priority queue indexed by crater id. As we sweep meteorites from heavy to light, we insert all craters that are within reach of the current meteorite.
- For each meteorite, if there is at least one available crater, assign it to any one of them and remove that crater from the available pool.
The key idea is that once a crater becomes reachable for a given meteorite, it will also be reachable for all heavier meteorites processed earlier, so we only need to activate craters in increasing order of distance.
Why it works is tied to a dominance property: if meteorite A is heavier than B, then A has at least as large reach. Therefore, any crater reachable by B is also reachable by A or vice versa depending on monotonicity of the reach function. Sorting ensures we never waste a high-value meteorite on a crater that could have been assigned later without loss of optimality.
