We are allowed to choose any axis-aligned subrectangle of fixed size R by C inside the grid. Every valid placement of such a rectangle has a “value” defined as the sum of strengths of all impurities that fall inside it. Cells without impurities contribute nothing, so only the K marked points matter.
The task is to slide an R by C window anywhere inside an N by M grid and compute the maximum possible sum of impurity strengths captured by the window.
Even though N and M can be as large as 10^9, only K up to 10^5 cells are non-zero. This immediately tells us that any method iterating over the full grid is impossible. The only meaningful objects are the impurity points themselves.

For each placement we would scan all K impurities and test whether they lie inside the rectangle. This leads to O(N·M·K) in the worst case, which is far beyond any limit given N and M up to 10^9.
Even if we restrict ourselves to only positions where a rectangle is meaningfully different, the number of placements is still astronomically large.
The key observation is that the grid size is irrelevant; only impurity coordinates matter. Each rectangle corresponds to selecting all impurities whose coordinates fall inside a translated R by C window. We can think of each impurity contributing its value to a region of valid rectangle origins. Each impurity defines a rectangle of positions of the top-left corner where that impurity is included.
So instead of moving the rectangle, we reverse the perspective: each impurity “adds its weight” to a set of positions in a transformed coordinate space. The problem becomes finding the maximum sum over all such overlapping axis-aligned rectangles in that transformed space. This reduces to a 2D maximum submatrix sum over a sparse set of weighted rectangles, which can be solved using coordinate compression and sweeping.
We sort all x-coordinates that matter and transform the condition “x in [x_i - R + 1, x_i]” into an interval constraint on the rectangle origin. Similarly for y. Each impurity becomes a weighted rectangle in the origin space, and we need the maximum overlap sum.

Algorithm Walkthrough

The key design choice is that we never explicitly enumerate rectangles. Instead, we decompose each impurity into contributions over a continuous region in a transformed space and compute maximum overlap efficiently.
Why it works
Every possible rectangle origin corresponds to exactly one point in the compressed 2D origin space. Each impurity contributes its weight exactly to the set of origin points where it lies inside the rectangle. Therefore the total sum at any origin is exactly the sum of weights of all active impurity-rectangles covering that point. The sweep line ensures that at every x-coordinate slice we correctly maintain the active set, and the segment tree ensures we find the best y for that x. Since every origin is considered implicitly through these sweeps, the maximum found is globally correct.
