The critical observation is that R is small enough relative to C that we can think in terms of selecting R cashiers and deciding how many bits each receives. Instead of assigning bits directly, we reason about what total time a cashier would take for different possible loads. For a fixed cashier i and a target time T, we can ask how many bits it can handle while finishing within time T. That inequality is Si × N + Pi ≤ T, which gives N ≤ (T − Pi) / Si, and also N ≤ Mi. So the effective capacity of cashier i under deadline T is a monotone function of T.
This transforms the problem into a feasibility check: given a candidate time T, can we assign B bits across at most R chosen cashiers such that each cashier i receives at most cap_i(T) bits? If we can answer this, we can binary search over T.

Algorithm Walkthrough
- Fix a candidate answer T representing the maximum allowed completion time for all robots. The goal is to test whether all B bits can be assigned so that every robot finishes within T.
- For each cashier i, compute how many bits a robot can bring while still finishing within time T. This is N_i = min(Mi, max(0, (T − Pi) // Si)). If T < Pi, then the cashier cannot serve any robot at all, so its capacity is zero.
- Treat N_i as the usable capacity of cashier i under deadline T. Each cashier can be used at most once, so we are selecting at most R cashiers and summing their capacities.
- Sort all N_i values in descending order.
- Take the top R values and compute their sum S(T). If S(T) ≥ B, then it is possible to distribute all bits within time T; otherwise it is impossible.
- Use binary search over T. The lower bound can start at 0, and the upper bound can safely be set to max(Pi + Mi × Si) over all cashiers.
- The smallest T for which feasibility holds is the answer.
Why it works
For a fixed T, each cashier independently defines a maximum load it can support. Since robots and cashiers are used at most once, the problem reduces to choosing up to R independent capacities to maximize total coverage of bits. Any optimal solution must use the R largest capacities because replacing a chosen cashier with a larger-capacity unused cashier never decreases feasibility. This exchange argument ensures that greedy selection is optimal for the feasibility check. Monotonicity in T guarantees binary search correctness.

Edge Cases
