Since N and Q are up to 2×10^5, any recomputation from scratch per query is too slow. A full scan over the value range for each query would cost O(NQ), which is impossible.
A less obvious edge case is when two components both contain values that are individually contiguous, but after merging they become connected through a bridge of values already present in neither component. For example, one component has {1, 3}, another has {2}. After merging, the segment structure collapses into a single block {1,2,3}. Any solution that only tracks sizes or ignores adjacency across value boundaries will fail here.
Approaches
A brute-force approach maintains, for each component, the full boolean array B of size N. Every time two components merge, we OR their arrays and then rescan to count segments. This is correct but too slow, because merging two arrays costs O(N), and there can be O(N) merges, leading to O(N²).
The key observation is that the answer depends only on the set of active values in a component and how they form consecutive runs. Instead of storing the full array, we store only the set of values present in each component and maintain how many contiguous runs exist inside that set.
When two components merge, we are essentially taking a union of two sets on the line 1 to N. The number of segments changes only near boundaries where a value v in one set connects to v−1 or v+1 in the other set. This makes it possible to maintain the answer incrementally using a disjoint set union structure combined with small-to-large merging of ordered containers.
The main trick is to always merge the smaller value-set into the larger one. During merging, when inserting each value x, we check whether x−1 or x+1 already exist in the target set; these determine whether a new segment is created or two existing segments are merged. This allows updating the segment count in logarithmic time per insertion.

Algorithm Walkthrough

If exactly one side exists, it extends an existing segment and does not change the count. If both x−1 and x+1 exist, it merges two previously separate segments, decreasing the count by 1.
By applying this logic for every inserted value while merging components, we maintain the correct number of contiguous value blocks.
Answering a query reduces to finding the DSU root of the queried vertex at the required time and outputting its stored segment count.
The correctness relies on the invariant that each component’s set of values is always exactly the union of its vertices’ values, and the segment counter always reflects the number of connected components of that set in the integer line. Every union operation preserves this invariant because it simulates inserting all values from one set into another.
